The building of the Regional Research Library was built under the patronage of the presidents of the Czech Republic, V. Havel, and Germany, R. Herzog, as The Reconciliation Building.

The old town hall was built in 1867-9 by Liberec`s builder Gustav Sachers. It is a three-storey building with its typical square tower and originally it served as the seat of the municipality.
